Spark's Tale: Page 4

When Spark woke again, it was because Flame was nuzzling him. "What?" he asked her sleepily.
"Come on!" she nudged him, harder this time. Spark finally rolled over and looked at her. He decided to get her back for ruining a great nap.

Spark leaped onto his sister, woofing happily. suddenly, Mother-Dog stirred. Flame backed away from her as Mother-Dog barked "Go back to sleep. it is late."

For the first time, Spark noticed that it WAS darker in the den. so, he and Flame curled up AGAIN and closed their eyes and waited for sleep to come.

When it did, it was quiet and blissful.

     Spark  stood up and lifted his paws over the blanket for the first time. he wanted to see what was going on outside.  suddenly, the blanket disappeared! Spark rolled down and landed hard on something very hard. Wood? he wondered. Mother-Dog had told him about this hard stuff. Humans must have hard paws to be able to walk on this stuff.   

He wobbled to his paws and looked around. he saw lots of things, he backed away and clawed back into the blanket, he closed his eyes and began to sleep again.

Spark's Tale: Page 2

Spark yawned and opened his eyes. Mother Dog had yummy milk. He looked around for his sister, Flame. Flame was curled up next to him, and was moving her paws like she was chasing something in her dream!

Spark nuzzled her and panted "Come on Flame! Let's play"
When Flame stirred, Spark nibbled her ear. Flame blinked open her eyes and whimpered "Hey!" she leaped up at him and nibbled his tail "I got you!" she crowed.

Spark rolled over, squashing her. When he got up, he was standing near Mother-Dog. "Can we go out of the nest?" he asked her

Mother-Dog made her rumbling/laughing sound "When you are older, yes. Right now? no my pups. You must stay here with me"

Spark sighed. he REALLY wanted to explore, but her curled up again next to Flame and nuzzled her. "That was fun. Let's do more later, ok?"

"ok" Flame agreed, yawning.
 Spark closed his eyes again, and fell into a blissful sleep

Spark's Tale: Page one

          The pup blinked open his eyes for the first time. He looked around. the first thing he saw was his Mother-Dog. then, he noticed a yellow bundle of fluff next to him. He nosed it and another pup lifted it's head. This one was a girl! Mother-Dog stirred, she licked him "Hello Spark" she rumbled.
Is that my name? Spark? I like it! Spark thought. He watched as Mother-Dog licked his sister and said "Hello Flame" My sister's name is Flame! Spark thought happily.

          Spark looked at his sister, she was yellow with orange spots, and a large orange blotch over one eye. she was really pretty. Then, he looked down at his own fur. he was yellow with black spots! He licked Flame's cheek "Come on!" he woofed "Let's play!"

          Flame leaped up and instantly fell down. Her legs sticking out like tails! Spark tried to stand, but was greeted with the same results. Mother-Dog made a rumbling sound, and at first Spark was scared that she was angry. Then he realized, she was laughing at him and Flame! Spark tried again, and managed to stay standing this time. But,  he soon fell down again. 

           Mother-Dog laughed again before woofing "You must wait a few days my pups. your legs will grow yes, but you must let yourself rest."

          Spark realized that he WAS tired. And hungry. so, he nuzzled close to Mother-Dog's belly and began to suckle, feeling the warm milk slide down his throat.
