Spark's Tale: Page 5

Spark couldn't  wait for Mother Dog to get up. today was the day she was taking them Outside! Spark remembered his secret visit to the floor. I wonder of we'll see any other dogs he wondered. Suddenly, Fame wiggled her way next to him "Aren't you excited?" she asked, and Spark could tell she was bursting inside.

Mother-dog finally stirred, and opened her eyes. she woofed; "It is time for you to meet the world my pups. And time for the world, to meet you."

Flame leaped up and asked "Can we go now?" and Spark asked "Ya, you said it's time, so can we leave?"

Mother-dog smiled, and stood up "Right now sweet pups. right now" Spark and Flame whimpered. Mother-dog was HUGE! Her yellow fur was short, with black AND orange spots. Flame said quietly "Mother-dog, will WE get that big?"

Mother-dog nuzzled Flame and said "Yes my dear. one day, you will both be as tall as me. and as strong, as your Father-dog.

Spark leaped up "Will we meet Father-dog today?"

his mother nodded and said "Yes Spark. he lives very near here. He is a wild dog, like us."

Spark puffed out his chest "I'm a wild dog!"

"Yes my sweet" Mother-dog said, licking his ear "But first, you must grow."

  LATER

Spark looked up at the giant black dog. this was his father dog! he wanted to ask him so many questions, but, he couldn't move. finally, Mother-dog walked up to Father-dog and said "These are your pups. Spark, and Flame" she nosed the pups as she said their names.

Father-dog said, in a deep voice, "They are beautiful. Like you" he licked Mother-dog's cheek affectionately. 

Spark finally got up the nerve to talk "W...where do you live?" he asked Father-dog, who leaned down, and said "I live on the other side of the black stone." and then, stood, and walked away, without saying good-bye.

Mother-dog murmered "He must want to get home before the human's rides start to wake and walk on the back stone."

Spark smiled, at last, he had met his father!
